Academic mixed chamber choir Gaudeamus – Plovdiv<\/u><\/strong><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Academic mixed chamber choir \u201cGaudeamus\u201d was created in 2006. It has had an intensive concert activity, performing orthodox music, cantatas and oratorios. It has also taken part in numerous Bulgarian and foreign choir festivals: Thracian choral festival \u2013 Yambol, \u201cViva la musica\u201d – Sofia, Panorama of the Bulgarian choral art \u2013 Chamber hall of \u201cBulgaria\u201d, Sofia; International choir festival \u201cIt’s truly meet\u201d – Pomorie, Festival of the sacred choral music \u201cSt. Petka of Bulgaria\u201d – Gabrovo, 7th<\/sup> international festival of the student choirs, Blagoevgrad, Annual choir festival for sacred music \u201cHosanna in excelsis\u201d, St. Paraskeva, Sofia. \u201cGaudeamus\u201d has also participated as a resident choir in the First International competition for young choir conductors \u201cMaestro Zahari Mednikarov\u201d \u2013 Albena, as well as in the Second International Choir Festival in Paralia, Greece \/September 2013\/.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The choir has participated in workshops of choral music under the direction of John Flummerfeld (USA), and Michael Scheck (Belgium), as well as an annual musical-scenic project of the European Union, which takes place in France and the United Kingdom. In connection with the latter, \u201cGaudeamus\u201d has performed diverse pieces, including \u201cStabat Mater\u201d <\/em>by Pergolesi, \u201cThe fairy queen\u201d <\/em>by Purcell, motets by Bach, \u201cRequiem\u201d <\/em>by Arnaud Dumond, Handel’s opera \u201cSemele\u201d <\/em>and madrigals by Monteverdi. The choir has premiered works of contemporary French authors, such as Karol Beffa \u2013 \u201cMissa brevis\u201d<\/em>, \u201cMedia vita\u201d<\/em> and \u201cLa messe\u201d<\/em>, Philippe Hersant \u2013 \u201cCalioppe\u201d, \u201cFalling star\u201d, \u201cDesert\u201d<\/em> (based on texts by John Donne and Friedrich Nietzsche), Philippe Maz\u00e9 \u2013 \u201cPsaume 150\u201d<\/em>, as well as the opera \u201cK. et la piste du ch\u00e2teau\u201d<\/em> – based on the novel \u201cThe castle\u201d<\/em> by Kafka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGaudeamus\u201d often participates in projects of the Academy of dance, music and fine arts \u2013 Plovdiv. In collaboration with the student orchestra the choir has performed masses by Mozart, Haydn, \u201cMagnificat\u201d<\/em> by Cimarosa, in 2010 \u2013 the opera \u201cDido and Aeneas\u201d<\/em> by Henry Purcell, and in 2012 Handel’s \u201cSemele\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2017 the choir realized first performance in Bulgaria of Cantata 140 Bach and the opera \u201cRichard le Coeur de lion\u201d of A. Gretry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The ensemble has been invited on numerous occasions as a guest in Cantate Jubilate and Musica sacra \u2013 weekly broadcasts on the Bulgarian national radio, as well as editions dedicated to special occasions, such as the National day of university students, Christmas and the anniversary of Cantate Jubilate. In August 2012 choir received Second Prize in the Ohrid International Choir Competition, Macedonia where it performed three concerts. In November 2013 and November 2014 the choir had a concert tour with orthodox music in Belgium \/Antwerp, Oudenarde, and Malle\/. In June 2014 the choir won the highest musical prize in Bulgaria \u2013 \u201cMusician of the year\u201d category \u201dEnsemble\u201d.In 2015 the choir take a part in 55-th International festival \u201cVirgo Lauretana\u201d in Loreto, Italy, as well as in International choir festival in Vezsprem, Hungary. In 2016 the choir take a part in orthodox choir festival in Hajnowka, Poland. In 2017 \u201cGaudeamus\u201d participate in Festival of sacred Advent choir music in Prague, Chech Republic. Very successful was the concert tour ina Paris, France in April 2018, where the choir participated in performances of \u201cEin Deutches Requiem\u201dBrahms, Bulgarian orthodox and french contemporary choir music. In 2018 the choir made a premiere for Europe of \u201cMusic of Love and Stars\u201d of Jeffry Wan with Minneapolis Guitar Quartet. In 2019 the choir is invited to perform a concert with orthodox music for Euroradio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In May 2020 \u201cGaudeamus\u201d won 2-place in category \u201cMixed choirs\u201d in \u201eAlexander the Great\u201d Nish, Serbia, as well as 2 golden medals in category \u201cMixed choirs\u201d and \u201cMusica sacra\u201d and prize for best performance of contemporary music in \u201cMelodianum\u201d-Kikinda, Serbia. In October 2020\u0433. Academic choir perform 2 concerts with music of Michael Haydn and Antonio Vivaldi<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2021 the choir take a part in festival \u201cPrekrasnoe daleko\u201d \u2013Russia, International choir festival \u201cChernomorski zvutsi\u201d-Balchik, 12 International music festival \u201cDays of music in Old town\u201d-Plovdiv, International orthodox festival \u201cIt\u2019s truly meet\u201d-Pomorie and many others. December 2021 the choir w\u0430s a winner of 3 Golden medals in choir competition \u201cMelodianum\u201d in Serbia and also the prize of the jury for best performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Prof. Ph. D. Vesela Geleva<\/strong> \u2013 founder and conductor of \u201cGaudeamus\u201d<\/strong> – graduated State Music Academy \u201cPancho Vladigerov\u201d – Sofia with professor Vasil Arnaudov and professor Virginia Atanasova. Since 1994 she teaches choir conducting and choir singing in the Academy of music, dance and fine arts, Plovdiv, where she currently holds the position of associate professor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2006 she completed her doctoral thesis: \u201cSpecifics and cultivation of the singing voice of children and adolescents and the problems it presents in a choir\u201d. She has authored many articles and publications, as well as the monograph \u201cPetar Dinev and his ecclesiastical choral legacy\u201d. Since 2006 she conducts the choir of the church \u201cSaint Trinity\u201d in Plovdiv, which participates in the Fourth and Fifth festival of eastern orthodox music \u201cIt’s truly meet\u201d, Pomorie. By commission of the Bulgarian national radio she records with the same ensemble a CD with music by Petar Dinev. Since September 2010 she also conducts the choir of State opera Plovdiv.
